Scientific Discourse and the building tasks that make up a person and their reading and writing skills is what defines us. The Scientific Discourses that Haas writes about is an experiment of college students and their time, along with their growth over the years. The Scientific Discourses of a person consists of understanding and retaining knowledge. This allows us as people to retain knowledge at hand and be able to relate back to what we have learned. The seven building tasks relate back to Scientific Discourses, in the ways of being able to understand and relate back to the texts at hand and what makes us who we are. The seven building tasks that help to make up a person is significance, practices, identities, relationships, politics, connections, and sign systems & knowledge. These building tasks Gee has created are the basis to writing and people as a whole. This all relates to the IMRAD format created by P. K. R. Nair and V. D. Nair, and the information that is spoken about in the text. This IMRAD format is used to help readers and writers understand the information and gives guidelines on understanding texts. The format relates back to the building tasks and how its instructional on writing and the definitions of a person. This also falls under the category of Scientific writing and communications. All of these texts that have been mentioned are all apart of the Scientific Discourse and the logic behind it. Gee talks about the science behind the seven building tasks, while Nair talks about the IMRAD Format, and Haas talks about her experiment on a student and the challenges through her years at college. These all relate to the science behind the Discourse that is provided in each and everyone of us. In the end the logic behind each and everyone of these writers provide evidence and logic to back up their evidence to provide information to the readers.
