Integrate Ideas (LO2)

Learning Outcome 2

Below are highlighted of examples of how I integrated other scholars’ ideas into my writing and then combining them with my own ideas. The “They Say” is highlighted in Blue and the “I Say” is highlighted in green:

Framing Statement: After editing my paper, I noticed my strengths included transitioning from each paragraph in the proper format, but also mainly including quotes. This is evident in paragraphs 2, 3, and 4 when I explained the views of Haas and Gee and the information on the IMRAD format paper. While I did well with my quote selection, in the future I could work on my elaboration of the quotes, as well as my own ideas that I incorporated relating to the quotes. My general ideas are portrayed to the audience, I made some good points, and backed up my statements with quotes, but could elaborated on the connections that I made even more. Based off of my comments from my peers, I had a strong conclusion and did well with overall comparing the texts. They also noted that my sentence structure could have been better, and improvement on grammatical and punctuation errors was necessary. One more thing that I could improve upon in the future is introducing the authors with background info, as well as organization. I struggled not only to provide information about the authors, but the timing of when to introduce them and explain background information about them. Overall, I was able to provide a clear explanation of my own opinions, and had some good points about what the texts discussed. However, on future assignments, I can improve upon my organization skills, as well as elaborating more on my connections and provide accurate ideas about the authors’ content. I will take this information to use as analysis on future papers because now I know what to look for and fix during the whole editing process.
