Revision Planning

  1. A big concern for me coming into college, was the different writing level. I know my high school did a great job of getting me prepared to write different argumentative essays. High school was always easy for me, but now I feel challenged to do my work and to do a decent job. Writing this first draft was hard for me because I felt like I needed to get to a certain point and I almost kept repeating myself. I wanted to make sure I met the criteria and got a good grade on my paper.
  2. Justin Dixon had said “I really like your hook. It is effective and you do a good job of introducing who Gee and Cuddy are early in your paper.” I believe that my peers that are in my group enjoyed my introduction, and I did a good job of bringing the reader in. I had learned to write hooks throughout high school, that is able to help bring the reader in.
  3. Justin Dixon also said “Good job at stating what you will be talking about in your paper. Clear and easy to understand”, He is talking about my thesis in this part. I took a lot of time to explain my thesis and make sure the reader understands what is going on throughout the paper.
  4. I focused on Gee in my second paragraph. I explained what he had said and quoted him on different statements he made. I related to Cuddy multiple times throughout my essay. I thought I did a good job of explaining Gee and his many views he had on people and their specific Discourses.
  5. The biggest thing I needed to work on in my essay was to stop re explaining what I just talked about. I already knew that beforehand but it was evident that I needed to stop repeating myself but with different words and a different sentence. Another thing I needed to do was to explain Discourses a little bit more and what a power pose is.
  6. I think my paper overall was solid and well written, and I included a lot of quotes to help back up my paper. I need to explain some things here and there, but overall it was decent.
